Zakasi, a 19-year-old recording artist from New Brunswick, NJ is not here to play any games. The young artist opened up to us about numerous aspects of his career but also about his personal upbringing revealing to us how it helped shape his path to tackle the music industry head-on and more!
Having spent part of his childhood growing up in a low-income part of Bristol, VA, he later made his transition from the South to the North East of the country to live with his father. His father, who was signed to Tuff Gong Records, (a label formed by the reggae group The Wailers in 1970 who's headquarters were located at Bob Marley's house) is credited to be the young star's biggest musical influence as mentioned by Zakasi himself.
The Hood Poet gave us quite the insight on his new upcoming single, "Alone" that is set to drop Friday, July 10, 2020. He mentions that there is also a visual on the way directed by Jersey legend, Nimi Hendrix the film god.
