Tory Lanez Quarantine Radio Shut Down Addressed by Instagram CEO

As if this coronavirus lockdown wasn’t boring enough, Instagram still decided to go ahead and block Tory Lanez’ Quarantine Radio on his Instagram live. The canadian recording artist has been keeping us entertained as f*ck with his hilarious Quarantine Radio segment on his IG live. This new series he’s created has seen the likes of Young Thug, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion and more. When Drizzy joined, they even broke the record for most views on Instagram Live with over 310,000 people watching at once.

Many of his supporter and professionals in the industry retaliated against this temporary shut down with the hashtag #FreeTory.

This is what Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri had to say about the shutdown:

Quarantine Radio is great. So first shout-out to Tory Lanez on that. Quarantine Radio is not banned. The lives have been great, the lives with the fans have been great but you can’t have nudity on Instagram. That’s part of our community guidelines. That’s the rules and we can’t make exceptions. And on a couple of those lives yesterday and a few of those accounts, there was nudity. So we had to stop the live and there’s a short period of time where you can’t go live again and that just, we have to stick to the rules otherwise why do we have them? But generally a big fan of Tory Lanez, big fan of Quarantine Radio – I hope it comes back soon but there’s no nudity.”

Tory was blocked on Tuesday April 7 and instantaneously created a new instagram account for Quarantine Radio and gained over 25,000 followers in just ONE minute! Tory will remain blocked from using his Ig live until Tuesday April 14, 2020. Aside from the disappointing news, the Canadian rapper is in such a good stage in his career. He is now an independent artist in charge of his own music and currently has everyone watching. Quarantine Radio may have started as a joke but it turned out to be a genius marketing move by Tory. He’s got fans eagerly awaiting the release of “The New Toronto 3.”
