Rod Wave's "Through The Wire" Talks Near Death Experience
Rodarius Marcell Green, known professionally as Rod Wave, unravels his traumatic experience from a fatal car accident which occurred in July in the latest song, "Through The Wire". On June 22nd, he released an Instagram video displaying the intensive damage to his Chevrolet Corvette but refrained from discussing the extent of his injuries at the time.
The 20-year-old Alamo Records artist delivered his testimony on July 12th, 2020 in front of the same car, using poignant piano keys paired with guitar chords to walk his audience through his raspy, heart-rending vocals. His lyricism graphically discusses the series of events his body confronts, including internal brain bleeding and other facial injuries.
Wave ironically titled the track under the same influential inspiration of Kanye West's 2006 song, "Through The Wire", while providing the same parallel introduction to his music video with a black screen and white lettered commentary describing the context of the song.
During his outro, he concludes the song the dark-themed song by discussing how he was allegedly under the influence of lean or alcohol while driving. He continues by stating how despite his injuries, his desperation to leave the hospital prompted loved ones to tell him to slow down.
Symbolically, he takes glances at his life-altering experience and showcases fans grazing his hand during his concert. The trending video which garnered over 1.88 million views ultimately addresses the miraculous fact that he made it alive and more grateful to the life he continues to build.
