Rising Artist I'm Dru! Wants To Connect With The World Through Music
I’m Dru! Is a rising artist who grew up in a small city named Long Beach, New York, but eventually moved to South Florida at age twelve due to Hurricane Sandy destroying his family’s home. Going through such a traumatic experience at a young age, I’m Dru! Feels as if there are plenty others out there facing trauma that he can connect with. Going through this situation has caused I’m Dru! to feel comfortable about using music to speak his mind, and spread a message with no matter which song he releases. As for how I’m Dru! started his creative process, he described music as being in his DNA, “Music is in my DNA. My grandma’s cousin was a man by the name of Bill Spitalsky. He co-founded a record label in the 1970’s called Spring Records. The label was one of the most prominent soul and funk labels from that era. The record label eventually perished before I was born, and Bill unfortunately passed away before I was born. People who know Bill sometimes think I am the reincarnation of him. But having gold album plaques on your wall would definitely inspire any young creative. I’ve always been into music and didn’t know why until I found out about Bill.” Utilizing this chip on his shoulder, I’m Dru! has taken on the passion of his late family member and looks forward to keeping his family’s legacy alive.
When it comes to the releases and type of music I’m Dru! creates, it depends on how he is feeling at the moment. His style is fun, energetic, vulnerable and relatable. As far as genres go, you can classify his music as a mix of Pop and Rap. Some of the key inspirations that have played part in Dru’s musical journey are Bruno Mars, Kanye, Justin Bieber, Drake, Michael Jackson, and Charlie Puth. What makes these artists special to him is that they are true music lovers, just like he is. He also admires the sounds and melodies used in their music, pushing him to become better everyday. As for his recent releases, I’m Dru! Has just dropped a single titled “LUPITA”. This is a co-release with a latin super producer, Sak Noel. He has produced for the likes of Pitbull, Sean Paul, and Daddy Yankee. This is a unique track and we should see a music video coming for it very soon! If you have not had a chance to check this release out make sure to take a look via all major streaming platforms as is the rest of I’m Dru!’s collection of work.
